| Virtually every community across the region offers a range of fun events, festivals and carnivals.
In the winter months, ice fishing derbies, winter carnivals, ice climbing events and the Sibley Ski tour (to name just a few) make every weekend fun-filled. As spring rolls along so do events such as the Thunder Bay Kite Festival, the Northwest Film Festival, spring garden shows, the Folklore Festival and Red Rock's Trout Derby, among many others.
When the weather’s hot, people flock to events such as the Thunder Bay’s Blues Festival, Summer Fest, Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Dragon Boat Festival, Fiesta Italiana and Canadian Lakehead Exhibition Family Fair, White River’s Winnie’s Hometown Festival and Red Rock’s popular folk festival, to name a few.
Be sure to visit one of Canada’s premiere attractions - Fort William Historical Park, the world’s largest reconstruction of a fur trading post. Containing 42 buildings and many “inhabitants” who re-create the life and times of the fur trade back in the early 1800’s, the site hosts such special events as Great Rendezvous Days and Anishnawbe Keeshigun.
Fall is a fabulous time to visit with countless country fairs and Hallowe’en celebrations in the Slate River Valley, at Fort William Historical Park and other locations in the region.
