With over two million acres of the finest wilderness canoeing and kayaking areas, you can easily experience the solitude of a quiet northern lake to practice your strokes while listening to the call of a loon or challenge yourself to the rapids of a white water river. On Lake Superior or Lake Nipigon shorelines you can travel the way of an early explorer.

Whether you are looking for a guided tour, rental equipment or map of unexplored territory you’ll find what you need in our friendly communities.  If you’re an on-the-water enthusiast, you’ll love the North of Superior region!

Souris River Canoes
Souris River CanoesSouris River Canoes was originated in 1985 by Keith Robinson. The first manufacturing facility was located on the banks of the Souris River. The company continued in Souris until it moved in July 1992 to Atikokan, Ontario. Atikokan was chosen mostly for its close proximity to Quetico Park which encompasses some of the most beautiful canoeing in the world.

From the beginning, much time and energy was spent on research and development. The focus was on trying to find materials and a resin and stiffening system that would produce an incredibly lightweight and tough canoe. Like all good research work, the process has required a great deal of time, patience and perseverance but these efforts have resulted in some astonishing discoveries: the development of R.E.S. Technology, Kevlar/Epoxy, Duralight and a revolutionary Flexible Rib System for stiffening the hulls of our canoes.
