Towns and Cities

From the vibrancy and variety of Thunder Bay, the North’s largest cities, to our many quaint and welcoming towns and villages, you’ll want to stop in and stay awhile right across the region.  Stroll along the Red Rock waterfront, check out the majestic views from Terrace Bay and Marathon, “play in the extreme” in Manitouwadge, view the thundering “Niagara of the North” at Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park and much more.  We’re waiting to welcome you to our communities in North of Superior Country.

Township of Nipigon
Township of NipigonNipigon sits on the edge of the Nipigon River and is brimming with natural beauty. We are an inspiring community; a place where nature goes hand in hand with a rich culture and storied heritage.

If you love outdoor adventures, Nipigon is surrounded by dramatic shorelines, freshwater lakes, and rugged landscapes. It is also a stepping stone to many of the undiscovered places that make this area truly special – both Lake Nipigon and Lake Superior are accessed from here.

Town of Atikokan
The Town of Atikokan is known as the "Canoeing Capital of Canada" and the reason is no surprise: this is gateway to the famous canoeing destinaton: Quetico Provincial Park. With no power boats allowed and numerous canoe outfitters ready to serve you, this is a paddler's paradise. Not a canoer? You can fish at a drive in or fly in resort, visit the attractions of downtown Atikokan or view rock art along the lake shores near town.
